Directions to J & C & S & W's Nest

From the South

  1. Take I-93 North to Exit 11 for Granite Ave/Ashmont. The offramp puts you on Granite Ave. going the correct direction. You will almost immediately pass over a "trestle style" drawbridge.
  2. At the second traffic light on Granite Ave, be in the left turn lane and turn left onto Gallivan Blvd. (A Hollywood Video and a McDonald's are on this corner).
  3. Proceed on Gallivan Ave to the second traffic light, and at that light take a right onto Dorchester Ave.
  4. You will pass through five traffic lights on Dorchester Ave. At the sixth traffic light, you will have gone exactly 1.3 miles since your turn from Gallivan. At this sixth traffic light, there is a recreational park and a plaza with a McDonald's and an H&R Block. Take a left at this light, onto Park St.
  5. At the end of the shopping plaza, turn right onto Geneva Ave.
  6. About .2 miles later, just after passing under the elevated train tracks, turn left onto Tonawanda St.
  7. You are immediately presented with a fork in the road. Stay to the right. (Waldeck Street is on the left side of the fork and Tonawanda Street is on the right.)
  8. Our house will be on your left, about two thirds of the way up the block. We are number 84, and the house has a blue/green/gray exterior with white trim.
  9. There is no restriction on parking on the street, but there is also plenty of room in our driveway.

From the North or from I-90

  1. Take I-93 South to the Columbia Rd. exit (# 15, J.F.K. Library).
  2. Take a right off the exit ramp onto Columbia Road.
  3. The next major intersection is with Dorchester Ave. Take a left at the light.
  4. After 1.5 miles, take a right onto Park St. There is a McDonalds in the shopping plaza and a large city playing field on the corner.
  5. At the end of the shopping plaza, turn right onto Geneva Ave.
  6. About .2 miles later, just after passing under the elevated train tracks, turn left onto Tonawanda St.

By the MBTA Red Line

Take the Red Line to Fields Corner, which is on the Ashmont branch of the Red Line (if you find yourself on a Braintree train, JFK/UMass is the last place to switch).

When you exit the station, there is only one set of turnstiles. After exiting the turnstiles, turn to your right; once you are outside; turn to your right again, and proceed along the full length of the busway towards Geneva Ave.

At the end of the busway, turn right on Geneva Ave., walking for about a hundred feet (you will pass under an overpass; this is the Red Line tracks continuing towards Shawmut and Ashmont) to the next possible left turn. Turn left.

This street immediately forks around a church. Tonawanda St. is the fork on the right.
